Ukraine imports Azerbaijani natural gas for the first time via the Trans-Balkan corridor, announced the head of the Ukrainian Naftogaz company, Serhiy Koretsky.
“The first contract for the purchase of gas has already been signed with SOCAR Energy Ukraine, a company of the SOCAR group,” Koretsky added on Facebook.
The trial supply will be carried out via the route passing through Bulgaria and Romania.
“This is a small-scale, but strategically important step that paves the way for long-term cooperation. It is also another example of diversification of supply sources,” Koretsky added.
