The preventive measure applied to ex-prime minister and former speaker of the National Assembly, Hovik Abrahamyan, has been commuted to house arrest, his lawyer Yerem Sargsyan told Sputnik Armenia.
The Court of Appeals has applied administrative supervision as a preventive measure.
"We will not appeal the administrative supervision of the preventive measure to the RA [i.e. Republic of Armenia] Court of Cassation, since there is no time and, moreover, the Anti-Corruption Committee has declared the end of the investigation into the criminal case. So, we will discuss the matter of preventive measure at the phase of the trial," added Sargsyan.
Hovik Abrahamyan was detained on June 13 as part of a criminal investigation being conducted by the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia.
He was taken into custody on several counts of money laundering, abuse of official power, and illegal participation in entrepreneurial activities.
