Cambodia denies the accusations of the Thai army about the violation of the ceasefire in the border zone, said Cambodian Ministry of National Defense spokesperson, Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, reports Khmer Times newspaper.

According to her, the Cambodian armed forces are strictly observing the orders of Phnom Penh and the ceasefire agreement that came into force at midnight.

The Cambodian defense ministry spokesperson added that the Cambodian side has taken on clear commitments and fulfilled the agreements reached in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur on Monday.

Earlier, the Thai army accused Cambodia of breaching the truce.

Relations between Cambodia and Thailand have deteriorated ever since an armed incident on May 28. That day, Thai soldiers opened fire on a Cambodian military position located in the disputed territory between the Cambodian province of Preah Vihear and the Thai province of Ubon Ratchathani, in Techo Morakot village in Choam Ksan District. One Cambodian soldier was killed and several others were injured in the incident.
