US President Donald Trump has made it clear that he wants to conclude a deal to end the war with Russia in Ukraine by August 8, the United States told the UN Security Council on Thursday, Reuters reports.

“Both Russia and Ukraine must agree to a ceasefire and establish lasting peace. The time has come to make a deal. President Trump has made it clear that this must be done by August 8. The United States is prepared to take additional measures to ensure peace,” senior US diplomat John Kelly told the UN Security Council.

Earlier, Trump said he was cutting the time given to Russia to establish peace with Ukraine to 10 days, threatening to impose high tariffs and secondary sanctions if it failed to do so.
