Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday that he welcomes recent steps taken by France, Britain, and other countries to recognize the Palestinian state, Reuters reports.
“We consider the recent humanitarian response coming from Europe, especially from France and the UK, to be very valuable. We welcome every step taken towards the recognition of the state of Palestine,” Erdogan said.
During his speech in Ankara, Erdogan said he had called French President Emmanuel Macron to congratulate him on his decision.
He added that support for the two-state solution would be the most effective position against Israel's policies.
