The leaders of the socialist, left, and green groups in the European Parliament of the European Union (EU) have sent a letter to the EU leadership accusing Israel of genocide in the Gaza Strip and demanding that the EU take immediate measures against the Jewish state, Politico reports.

“This situation can no longer be regarded as a mere emergency: there is clear evidence that a genocide is being committed in Gaza. The European Commission and the European Council have so far failed to respond with the urgency and resolve that our treaties, values and responsibilities demand,” reads, in particular, the letter obtained by Politico and addressed to Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission; Antonio Costa, President of the European Council; and Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

And a European official told Politico that the famine in Gaza was artificially induced and drew parallels with past genocides, particularly the genocide of the Tutsi in Rwanda.
