The US Department of State has approved the possibility of selling to Ukraine repair and maintenance services for M777 howitzers, as well as respective equipment, in the amount of $104 million, according to the press release of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).

The application for the purchase of maintenance services for M777 howitzers was received from the Ukrainian government, DW reports.

DSCA is responsible for the delivery of military equipment and weapons in the US under intergovernmental contracts. The possible sale of maintenance and repair services for M777 howitzers to Ukraine will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the US, strengthening the security of the partner country, notes DSCA.

It added that the sale of this military assistance to Ukraine will not upset the basic military balance in the region and will not negatively affect the defense capabilities of the US.
