US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order imposing additional 25% tariffs on India due to Russian oil

“I deem it necessary and appropriate to impose an additional ad valorem duty on imports of goods from India that directly or indirectly import oil from the Russian Federation,” the order said, according to the BBC.

Trump had previously claimed that India was indirectly supporting Russia's war against Ukraine by buying Russian oil.

India rejected the claims, pointing out that the US buys some goods from Russia.

Goods from India imported into the customs territory of the United States are subject to an additional ad valorem duty of 25 percent, according to Trump's decree.
