U.S. Congressman Frank Pallone welcomed the progress in normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan during the White House meeting. He posted a comment on his X page regarding the Pashinyan–Trump–Aliyev meeting held in Washington.

"I am encouraged to see the United States more directly involved in an effort to bring Armenia and Azerbaijan together. While the existence of a transportation corridor across the southern region of Armenia poses problems, I hope having direct U.S. involvement will lead to a just, lasting peace agreement and the end of the economic blockade against Armenia by both Azerbaijan and Turkey. Any final agreement must include strong enforcement mechanisms and security guarantees for Armenia should Azerbaijan break its terms. In this regard, it is a mistake for the U.S. to waive Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act. There is no reason to provide Azerbaijan with military assistance."

According to the congressman, more can and must be done to pressure Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to release prisoners of war and political prisoners he continues to hold in Baku, as well as to withdraw his troops from Armenian land.

"The United States has a moral imperative to ensure the safe, dignified, and sustainable return for displaced Armenians of their indigenous homeland of Nagorno-Karabakh," Frank Pallone emphasized.
