The Russian State Duma has begun talking about tightening its policy towards Azerbaijan after information that Baku is considering lifting its moratorium on arms deliveries to Ukraine.

Andrey Gurulev, a member of the Duma's regional policy committee was transferred from the defense committee after a series of controversial statements and was entrusted with voicing the position of the Russian parliamentarians. In his respective video message, the lawmaker, responding to Baku's decision to send humanitarian aid to Ukraine, stated that the Russian authorities may impose an embargo on the supply of Azerbaijani goods to Russia.

"It is not wise to spoil relations with a large neighbor like Russia. If there are no Azerbaijani goods on the shelves of Russian stores, nothing will change for us, but a lot will change for them," Gurulev said.

Also, insinuated that Russian law enforcement agencies may continue to persecute the Azerbaijani diaspora members who do business in Russia.

“It could also be done in another way. A ‘special military operation’ is a stretching concept. It stretches along the entire border of the Russian Federation,” Andrey Gurulev concluded.
