Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev warmly congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the signing of the declaration on the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington DC, the press service of the president of Kazakhstan informs.

“The signing of this historically significant document became possible, among other things, due to the political will and outstanding qualities of Nikol Pashinyan, a politician with a strategic vision of the national interests of his state.

The Declaration paves the way for large-scale international cooperation in the South Caucasus and more intensive economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Armenia.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that preparations have begun in [Kazakh capital] Astana for the official visit of the prime minister of Armenia, scheduled for later this year. Kazakhstan is ready to further promote political dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan by providing its platform for negotiations.

Expressing gratitude for the congratulations and warm words of support, Nikol Pashinyan informed the Kazakh side about some aspects of the negotiation process to establish peace between the two states, noting the extremely important mediation role of US President Donald Trump.

The prime minister gave a positive assessment of Kazakhstan’s activities in reconciling Armenia and Azerbaijan. At the same time, he confirmed his readiness to visit Kazakhstan this year to sign new agreements on mutual cooperation,” added the press service of the president of Kazakhstan.
