Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk will leave for Armenian capital Yerevan next week to discuss Armenia’s activities within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), reports TASS.

“Next week I am flying to Yerevan,” Overchuk told reporters. “The trip itself was planned in advance, it is linked to the fact that a normative legal act has emerged in the legal framework of the Republic of Armenia, a decision of the government of Armenia, which, in our opinion, contradicts the legislation of the Eurasian Economic Union.”

According to Overchuk, this matter will be discussed during his upcoming visit to Yerevan.

“A meeting was held and a declaration was signed in Washington. Therefore, it is also expected that there will be a possible meeting with [Armenian Prime Minister] Nikol Pashinyan, where we will discuss certain nuances, mainly related to the unblocking of communications in the South Caucasus region,” Overchuk added.

The deputy premier explained that Russia is interested in matters related to its interests in the South Caucasus, including the development of railway communications.
