Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have called up 60,000 reservists and extended the current military service of 20,000 reservists in preparation for the operation in Gaza City, the IDF press service reports.
The press service added that the decision to call up these reservists was made to continue combat operations after a comprehensive discussion of the necessary personnel and was approved by the defense minister.
The reservists who have received the call-up orders can be given up to two weeks, reports The Times of Israel.
Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz approved the plan to take control of Gaza City, state broadcaster Kan had reported. The respective operation has been named "Gideon's Chariots II."
