Certain European Union (EU) natural resources, aircraft, and generic medicines will not be subject to 15% US tariffs as of September 1, the EU and the US have said in a joint statement on the publicizing of a Framework on an Agreement on Reciprocal, Fair, and Balanced Trade.
"(…) effective as of 1 September 2025, the United States commits to apply only the MFN [i.e. Most Favored Nation] tariff to the following products of the European Union: unavailable natural resources (including cork), all aircraft and aircraft parts, generic pharmaceuticals and their ingredients and chemical precursors," the statement reads, in particular.
