Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, informs the Kremlin press service.

During the phone call, Putin informed the president of Iran of the key outcomes of the Russia-US summit held in Anchorage, USA. In turn, Pezeshkian expressed his support for the diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine crisis.

The leaders discussed a number of pressing bilateral matters, notably in the energy and transport sectors.

The situation surrounding Iran's nuclear program as well as the developments in the South Caucasus were addressed as well.

Also, Vladimir Putin and Masoud Pezeshkian confirmed their willingness to further strengthen the cooperation between Russia and Iran in various domains, and agreed to hold a bilateral meeting at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit to be held in China.
