Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received the Minister of State for Europe, North America and the Overseas Territories of the United Kingdom (UK), Stephen Doughty MP, the PM’s office informs.

The premier welcomed his visit to Armenia, and expressed satisfaction with the successful round of the Armenia-UK Strategic Dialogue. Pashinyan noted that Doughty’s visit to the region comes at a very important and even historic time, given the agreements reached in Washington on August 8—and which lay the foundation for stability and predictability, broader regional cooperation and development in the South Caucasus.

In turn, Stephen Doughty congratulated the premier on the historic results achieved in Washington in the normalizing of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and advancing the peace agenda. Also, he emphasized the UK’s support for this process.

The parties reaffirmed their readiness to elevate Armenia-UK relations to the level of a strategic partnership and to consistently achieve this objective through joint efforts. The interlocutors stressed that the basis of cooperation between Armenia and the UK is the shared values ​​of democracy, the rule of law, and the protection of fundamental human rights.

Next, the interlocutors discussed the further development and expansion of Armenia-UK cooperation. The importance of conducting studies on economic projects of mutual interest, the implementation of joint investment programs, and the more active engagement of UK companies in infrastructure and other projects in Armenia was emphasized.

PM Pashinyan underscored the UK's active participation in 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) to be held in Armenia next year.

They exchanged views also on some other matters of mutual interest.
