The Syrian government has said that six Syrian soldiers were killed in Israeli drone strikes near Damascus, according to BBC News.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry condemned Tuesday's strike as a violation of international law and the country's sovereignty.

After further strikes on Wednesday, Israeli troops carried out an airborne assault on a former military facility in the area, according to international and Syrian state media reports.

Reports vary as to what exactly the Israeli forces were doing and how long they remained there. The Israeli military told the BBC that it does not comment on foreign reports.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz posted on social media on Thursday that “forces are operating in all areas of combat day and night to ensure Israel's security."
