Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has stated that his American counterpart, Donald Trump, is acting as a “Soviet asset,” supporting Russia in its war against Ukraine, CNN Portugal reports.

“The supreme leader of the world’s greatest superpower is, objectively, a Soviet, or Russian, asset. He functions as an asset. I am saying that, objectively, the new US leadership has strategically favored the Russian Federation,” the Portuguese president said, adding that Trump wants to negotiate with only one side, excluding both Ukraine and Europe.
