American Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier enters Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz accompanied with warships.

The representative of the U.S. 5th fleet told Reuters that entering of the Persian Gulf was planned earlier and it passed without any incidents.

The Abraham Lincoln is the first aircraft carrier entering the Persian Gulf since December 2011 and will replace John C. Stennis vessel.

After leaving of the John C. Stennis flattop, Tehran threatened Washington to take response measures if another ship enters the Persian Gulf. Iran also promised to close the Strait of Hormuz. In its turn, Washington announced that will not allow the blockade of the Strait.

However, on January 21 Iran changed its strategy on with deployment of American warships in the Arabian Sea and the Persian Gulf.
