The Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Commission against Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats has issued a statement regarding the launch of an information campaign against Azerbaijan originating from Russia, the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) told APA, the latter reports.

The statement notes that immediately after the broadcast of the interview of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the Saudi Arabian Al-Arabiya television on August 27, a massive information campaign against Azerbaijan was launched from the territory of the Russian Federation:

"During monitoring, it was determined that the host's question about the Zangezur corridor and the Azerbaijani President’s response based on historical facts were taken out of context, falsified, or distorted before being presented to Russian readers.

The campaign, aimed at inciting anti-Azerbaijani propaganda within Russian society, is conducted through television channels and news websites, social media platforms, and certain radical figures with influential roles.

It has been observed that the campaign extensively uses platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and X, which are banned or restricted in the territory of Russia, as well as social media profiles and bots created under the names of citizens from other countries.

Another notable element of the campaign is the targeting of Azerbaijan’s social media segment with advertisements containing threatening messages against the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

It should also be noted that such repugnant campaigns have no impact on public opinion in Azerbaijan. Such activities only serve to incite the Russian society based on false facts, driving baseless hostility towards neighboring states. The roots of the "Russophobia" syndrome that worries Russia should be sought in the activities of the “Z” bloggers.

The Commission on Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats, together with the relevant state bodies, closely monitors these unfriendly actions against our state and continues to take appropriate preventive measures," the statement notes.
