YEREVAN. – If the discussions, with respect to the proposal to change to a 100-percent proportional election system, end against it, the Armenian parliamentary opposition Heritage Party will nominate candidates for the majority election system, Heritage MP Anahit Bakhshyan told news reporters on Monday.

“The Party is examining, and it has not yet decided. The proportional election system will allow for a greater chance to take truly prepared MP’s to the parliament,” Bakhshyan noted.

She added that if she decides to run in any election district, with the majority election system, and against an oligarch, she will openly show the difference between her and the given oligarch’s activities.

In his turn, the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia MP Sukias Avetisyan said both the majority and the proportional election systems are acceptable for Armenia.

And in response to the question as to whether he is preparing to run, in the upcoming parliamentary elections, with the majority system, Avetisyan said: “If the Party wishes so, I would run. [But] I have no such desire now.”
