The Kazakh parliament on Wednesday ratified two agreements between Kazakhstan and Armenia on collaboration in migration and the procedure for their citizens to stay in one another’s countries, Kazinform reports.

According to the new agreement, now Kazakh nationals will be able to visit Armenia solely with an identity document. Similarly, Armenian citizens will be able to stay in Kazakhstan with their identification card alone.

In addition, the Armenian and Kazakh nationals will be allowed to stay in one another’s country for up to 90 days within six months.

“A procedure is being established according to which a citizen of one of the parties must be temporarily registered after 30 days of stay. This will enable monitoring migration processes,” said Kazakh MP Dmitry Koloda.

In addition, the requirement to be issued a mandatory visa after 90 days of stay is being canceled. Now, after 90 days, an Armenian national in Kazakhstan can apply for a temporary residence permit at the Public Service Centers.

"A temporary residence permit is now issued free of charge. (…). Previously, this matter was considered within 30 calendar days. Now it will be considered as a service within one working day," Koloda added, in particular.

Earlier, Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov had stated that nearly 12,000 Armenian citizens have entered Kazakhstan since the beginning of the year.
