The government of Armenia, at its Cabinet meeting Thursday, decided to allocate 13.5 billion drams for the extension of the operation of the second power unit of the Armenian nuclear power plant (NPP) in 2025.

It is noted that in 2020, the government adopted a decision, according to which the Armenian NPP will be provided with a budget loan of 63.2 billion drams from the state budget during 2020-2025.

Within the framework of this budget loan of 63.2 billion drams of the general program, loan agreements for 49.665 billion drams were signed, the balance is 13.535 billion drams, states the explanation of this decision.

This balance arose in 2024, when the Ministry of Finance signed a loan agreement with the High Voltage Electrical Networks Company in the amount of 1.035 billion drams out of the 7 billion drams planned for the NPP, as a result of which 5.9 billion drams were provided to the NPP in 2024.
