US President Donald Trump has announced that he intends to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the near future. He told reporters that they are having a very good dialogue about ending the war in Ukraine, CNN reports.

Earlier, Trump had a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other world leaders. According to a White House spokesperson, the US president called on European countries to stop buying Russian oil and put economic pressure on China to speed up the end of the conflict.

The statements were made amid a dinner with the heads of major information technology companies at the White House and the approaching deadline set by Trump. He has demanded that Russia and Ukraine begin direct peace talks on Friday, and threatened with consequences from the US if this process is disrupted.
