Now is the time to resume the meetings of the 3+3 consultative regional platform between Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia on the one hand, and three major regional powers—Iran, Russia, and Turkey—on the other—Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov believes.

Lavrov recalled that the initiators of the creation of this platform were Turkey and Azerbaijan.

“We had several meetings at the ministerial level two years ago. There were also meetings at the deputy ministerial level,” the Russian FM noted, speaking to students and faculty of Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). “Now we believe it’s time to resume [this format]. Our Iranian neighbors support these processes, and Turkey and Azerbaijan, as I said, were the initiators of this platform.”

"So, I hope that this format will resume in the near future," Lavrov concluded.
