First President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan on Tuesday met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kopyrkin at his residence, Ter-Petrosyan's spokesperson Arman Musinyan informed on Facebook.

"During the conversation, which lasted more than an hour, they touched upon, in particular, the current state of Armenian-Russian relations and the imperative of establishing long-term peace and stability in the South Caucasus region.

The First President considered it necessary to emphasize the following: Russia's presence in Transcaucasia [i.e. the South Caucasus] is a dire need and a reality confirmed by history. Armenia's honest and reliable friends are Russia, Iran, Georgia, France, Greece, and in the near future—China and India," added the spokesperson of the First President of Armenia.
