The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet intelligence service said that the Israeli Air Force had struck the leadership of the Palestinian group Hamas, according to the Times of Israel.

The statement does not directly mention Qatar, but it came after reports of large explosions in Doha, where the senior leadership of Hamas resides.

“The members of the leadership who were targeted have led the terrorist organization for many years and are directly responsible for the mass murder on October 7 and the war against the State of Israel,” the statement said.

The IDF said it had “taken steps to minimize damage to the civilian population” as a result of the strike, including the use of precision-guided munitions and other intelligence.
