The Gen Z movement, which has been causing protests and unrest in Nepal, has issued a public declaration calling for major political reforms in the country, India Today reports.
The declaration emphasizes that the struggle is being waged for the future of the country, and not for any party or individual. Those killed during the movement will be declared martyrs, and their families will be honored and assisted.
The protesters are mainly demanding the immediate dissolution of the House of Representatives, as well as amendments to the constitution or its revision with the participation of Nepalese citizens and youth, new fair elections after an interim period, and direct elections of the executive branch of power.
The protesters are also demanding an immediate investigation and nationalization of property illegally acquired over the past 30 years, and the reconstruction of five key sectors: education, health care, justice, security, and communications.
Meanwhile, the Nepalese army has declared a nationwide curfew that will remain in effect until 5 p.m. on November 25, with further updates depending on the development of the situation.
The army warned that individuals and groups carrying out illegal activities continue to infiltrate the movement, committing acts of vandalism, arson, looting, violent attacks, and sexual violence, and called on everyone to work together to stop criminal activities.
