Australia has joined the oil embargo against Iran which was adopted by the EU on Monday. Australia’s FM Kevin Rudd announced during his visit to London.

“I want to be clearly understood on the Iranian issue. As for the actions of Brussels which consist of EU sanctions, we in Australia will adopt likewise actions,” he announced.

His British college Philip Hammond announced that London can send additional defense forces to the Strait of Hormuz in order to prevent Iran blocking the strait. According to Hammond the arrival of US warships, including the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln, and also the presence of French and British ships in the region of the strait is a clear signal for Tehran.

To remind, on Monday the EU foreign ministers confirmed the embargo on Iran’s oil supplies. The contracts that have been already signed can be carried out until July 1, 2012.

Iran’s minister of internal affairs Mostafa Mohammad Najjar announced that EU’s sanctions will not affect Iran but they will lead to the deterioration of Europe’s economic condition, RIA Novosti reports.
