Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot discussed the growing tensions in a telephone conversation, with Tehran rejecting Europe's “retaliatory measures” as illegal and stressing that diplomacy is the only solution, Mehr reports.

Abbas Araghchi and his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot held a telephone conversation late on Tuesday evening, during which they discussed the escalation of tensions surrounding the E3's decision to illegally launch the “snapback” mechanism - the reintroduction of sanctions against Iran.

Barrot expressed concern about the current dynamics of tension and stressed the importance of preserving space for dialogue and returning to the diplomatic path.

Araghchi strongly rejected the activation of the so-called snapback mechanism by European states in the UN Security Council, calling it devoid of any political or legal legitimacy and a step that would only exacerbate the crisis and instability.

Reiterating the purely peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program, the Iranian foreign minister recalled the recent agreement reached between Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)," Iranian media reported.

Araghchi emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran consistently views diplomacy as the only way to resolve international issues, including its nuclear program, and stated Iran's readiness for any fair and balanced solution that guarantees mutual interests.

The ministers also reviewed the state of bilateral relations, including consular issues, and stressed the need to maintain regular contacts and consultations between Tehran and Paris.
