Roscosmos plans to create its own satellite communications terminal in the near future, according to Dmitry Bakanov, head of the state corporation. He said the development will be similar to the Starlink system, Kommersant reports.

As Bakanov said on Solovyov LIVE, one Russian “private company” has already developed a similar low-orbit “grouping.” 

In the first stage, 300 of its devices will be launched into space in December this year, and in the second stage, 900 will be launched.

Starlink is a global satellite system deployed by billionaire Elon Musk's SpaceX company. It provides high-speed satellite internet access. The Ukrainian army uses Starlink terminals for navigating drones and unmanned boats, targeting weapons, and other purposes. Last year, RBC reported that the creation of a Russian analogue of Starlink — the low-orbit satellite constellation “Bureau 1440” — would cost approximately 445 billion rubles.
