The Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road has become a valuable platform for communicating with colleagues from various countries around the world, where the media unite for a dialogue of civilizations. In the future, our creative team hopes to continue telling stories and making films that will strengthen cultural ties between countries and enable more people to understand the deep meaning of international cooperation. Narine Hovhannisyan, deputy editor-in-chief of Armenian News-NEWS.am news and analytical agency, who is currently in China to participate in the 2025 Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road, said this in an interview with People's Daily newspaper of China.

“The film, In the Book of My Dreams, won the Grand Prize in the Best Video category at the second international Silk Road Global News Awards; it is a great honor and inspiration for me. The film was created under the influence of the One Belt, One Road Initiative,” said Hovhannisyan.

The main character of this documentary is an 11-year-old Armenian boy. In a Chinese manuscript, he discovers references to the ties between China and Armenia, travels to a caravanserai on the Great Silk Road, meets Chinese tourists near Armenian landmarks, and ultimately decides to enroll in an Armenian-Chinese school to learn Chinese. The film is primarily aimed at the younger generation, aiming to arouse interest in Chinese culture and language.

“While working on the film, our creative team tried to combine documentary and artistic techniques: to maintain authenticity and at the same time leave room for the audience’s imagination and reflection. It is gratifying that the film has received a warm response from both Armenian and Chinese audiences. This has become largely possible thanks to the humanitarian exchanges promoted by the Belt and Road Initiative. I wanted to show not only the development of infrastructure and trade relations, but also, first of all, people-to-people contacts and dialogue between cultures. In recent years, interest in the Chinese language has become more noticeable in Armenia, more and more students are going to China to study. At the same time, I see how more and more Chinese friends are coming to Armenia to travel. This two-way dynamic of interaction enables to feel more deeply the meaning of mutual understanding that the Belt and Road Initiative brings,” said Hovhannisyan.

In her assessment, the dialogue of civilizations begins with human compassion.

“We, journalists, not only transmit information, but also build bridges between cultures—playing a unique and irreplaceable role in the strengthening of human ties.
