Hamas will have no role in the future governance of Palestine, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas told the UN General Assembly on Monday.
Abbas, however, had to speak via videoconference because the US had denied a visa to him for a personal visit to the UN headquarters in New York.
In his address, the Palestinian Authority leader clearly outlined the future plans for the post-war structure of the Gaza Strip. The main point of Abbas’s remarks in this regard was the demand for complete demilitarization and the removal of the radical Islamist Hamas group from power.
