President Donald Trump on Monday ordered tariffs on supplies to the US of timber and certain types of products made from it.

According to respective documents publicized by the White House, the 10 percent tariffs will apply to lumber imports, including softwoods. And a 25-percent tariff will apply to certain types of furniture imports, including kitchen furniture.

The new measures will take effect on October 14.

The possibility of further increasing these tariffs is planned after January 1, 2026.

Vietnam, Canada, China, and Mexico are the largest furniture exporters to the US.
