US President Donald Trump has proposed a peace plan and the international community has already welcomed it. We also welcome it, and hope that its implementation will ultimately bring peace to Gaza. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this while answering questions after his address Tuesday at the autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), in Strasbourg, France..
Pashinyan recalled that last year Armenia recognized the Palestinian state.
“We [i.e. Armenia] are closely following these developments, and hope that thanks to the efforts of US President Trump and the support of the international community, peace will finally be established in the Gaza Strip,” Pashinyan noted.
He recalled that last year Armenia passed a law on the launch of the process of Armenia’s accession to the European Union (EU), and that this law has already entered into force.
“It is impossible to be a member of the European Union without meeting the standards of the European Union. And therefore, in all cases, our priority task is to bring the country into line with the standards of the European Union. When we meet the standards of the European Union, there are two ways: either we will be accepted into the European Union, or not. If we are accepted, great; if not, we will fulfill another important task: we will become a country that fully meets the standards of the European Union, which will considerably strengthen our democracy, independence and prosperity," the Armenian premier added.
