Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday expressed a view that there has been no crisis in intergovernmental relations between Russia and Azerbaijan.

They just experienced an “emotional crisis” due to the crash of an Azerbaijani AZAL passenger aircraft, Putin added during a press conference following his state visit to Tajikistan.

“I would say it was most likely an emotional crisis, and it’s understandable why — because we faced a very difficult, tragic event involving the loss of the plane and its passengers. Therefore, it was necessary to resolve this matter calmly,” the Russian leader said.

Also, he expressed hope that Russia and Azerbaijan would work together to implement major projects across various sectors.

“I hope we have turned this page, that we will move forward and develop our ties without any difficulties, and will implement those large, truly big projects that both countries have — in logistics, industrial cooperation, and, incidentally, also in the humanitarian field,” the Russian president said.
