MOSCOW. – Russia considers calls for Bashar al-Asad’s voluntary surrender unacceptable, Russian deputy FM Gennady Gatilov told Interfax commenting on the draft resolution to be discussed in the UN Security Council.

According to him, any decision on further political regulations in Syria should be made through political processes without imposing pre-conditions.  Demands calling for Asad’s voluntary surrender is a pre-condition, he said adding that Russia will not support the draft resolution.

Armenian News-NEWS.am has earlier informed that the UN Security Council will hold a closed session on Syria on January 28 to discuss the draft resolution prepared by the League of Arab States.
