President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Ukraine and Europe are developing a joint position to then address the United States in various formats regarding the potential provision of Tomahawk cruise missiles. He told reporters this, Interfax‑Ukraine reports.

According to Zelensky, U.S. President Donald Trump is not transferring Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine in order to avoid an escalation with Russia until he meets with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.

Zelensky said that the long‑range missile issue prompted Putin to call Trump.

He noted that Ukraine is currently in constant contact with European leaders, who want to ask Trump about Tomahawk missiles. After all, European countries also possess them.

“First of all, I would like to say that European countries also have Tomahawks. The question is not just about the Tomahawk as such. The question is about the use of the weapon. Because you can have ATACMS, but how can you use them? The question is not only what weapons you have, but how you can use them,” Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian leader said these missiles would be used against military targets and in coordination with partners.

“We spoke with European leaders immediately after we met with President Trump. They also want to address him with that request,” he emphasized.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is in constant contact with the national security advisers of European countries and is developing a common position with them.

He added that they will continue to appeal to the United States on this issue in various formats.
