Truck drivers who had gathered near the Russian Embassy in Yerevan have moved to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for negotiations, but said they received no clear answers from either institution.

At the moment, they are heading with their trucks to block the Bagratashen customs checkpoint, driver Gevorg Sargsyan told NEWS.am.

The drivers demand that Armenia negotiate with Russia to revise the new legislation that limits foreign citizens’ stay in Russia to 90 days per year, instead of the previous 180 days.

They have warned that if their issue is not resolved, they will block major roads across Armenia with their trucks tomorrow morning.

As a reminder, under amendments to Article 115 of the Russian Federal Law, effective from September 10, the permitted stay for foreign nationals in Russia was reduced to 90 days per year. According to freight drivers, this rule should not apply to them or to passenger transport drivers, as they often spend 90 days or more waiting in line at the Upper Lars border crossing.
