In the past 24 hours, approximately 50 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian WAFA news agency.

Medical officials report that “in the last 24 hours, 47 Palestinians were killed under Israeli fire in the enclave”, with 36 of the casualties occurring in central areas of the besieged territory. Around 158 people were injured.

The agency notes that these casualties occurred during a period when “Israel repeatedly violated the ceasefire regime on Sunday evening and Monday morning.”

On October 19, the Israeli army stated that Palestinian militants had breached the ceasefire, citing an incident in the southern city of Rafah where fire was directed at Israeli soldiers. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed the Hamas movement and ordered the military to “take action” against the militants. Following this, the military carried out a series of strikes across the enclave, targeting dozens of locations.

Later, the army clarified that two soldiers were killed in the morning incident in Rafah, and another was seriously injured. Hamas representatives deny any connection to the incident in the enclave.
