Late Tuesday evening, the man drove into the security gate at the entrance of the White House at 10:37 p.m. local time, according to the Associated Press.
The U.S. Secret Service stated that agents on the scene immediately arrested the man. Investigators searched his vehicle and deemed it safe, officials said.
Authorities have not released further details about the crash, the driver’s identity, or possible motives.
