A small plane struck a woman who fell in a busy California park during an attempted emergency landing, reports The New York Post.
According to the Long Beach Fire Department, the small aircraft made an emergency landing on a soccer field at Hartwell Park in Long Beach around 4 p.m. local time.
“When units arrived, they found a small plane lying on its belly with broken landing gear,” said fire department officials, noting that the fuselage of the plane remained intact.
The plane collided with a woman, approximately 40 years old, who was on the field during the emergency landing. She was transported to the hospital along with the elderly pilot, who had to be rescued from the aircraft by firefighters, authorities added.
Officials said both victims miraculously suffered only moderate injuries and were in stable condition.
