Magdalena Grono, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Georgia Crisis, expressed support on Twitter regarding the latest developments between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

First, as Grono noted, the EU is “very encouraged by a series of recent positive steps in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, including the announcement of the removal of restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia via Azerbaijan.”

The EU Special Representative also welcomed yesterday’s meeting in Geneva between the speakers of the Armenian and Azerbaijani parliaments, as well as the planned discussions in Yerevan involving representatives of civil society from both countries.

“The European Union warmly welcomes these practical achievements and is ready to support all such initiatives and additional measures to build trust. We also welcome the announced preparations for another Armenia-Turkey meeting focused on restoring and relaunching the Gyumri-Kars railway,” added Magdalena Grono.
