Chief of the French Armed Forces General Staff, General Fabien Mandon, stated that the French army must be ready for a confrontation within three to four years.

“The first objective I set for the armed forces is to be ready for a confrontation in three to four years,” Mandon said during a hearing of the National Assembly’s Defense Committee, which was broadcast on its website.

According to Le Parisien, Mandon spoke in the context of tensions with Russia.

The general noted that “the confrontation is already happening in hybrid forms, but in the future, it could become larger.”
