U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, during talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, asked him to “give a chance and time to implement everything” necessary to move to the next stages of a peace agreement addressing the conflict in the Gaza Strip. This was reported by Axios, citing two senior U.S. diplomats and one Israeli official.

During the October 22 talks, Vance also requested Israel’s full cooperation and highlighted specific concerns that Washington believes could derail the peace agreement. In particular, these included Israeli strikes on positions of radical Palestinian Hamas supporters in response to attacks on Israeli forces over the past weekend, as well as restrictions by Israel on humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza. Vance called on the Israeli side to exercise restraint.

According to the sources cited by Axios, Netanyahu told the U.S. vice president that Israel would adhere to the framework of the peace agreement and expects that both sides will soon move to the next stages of the deal. However, U.S. diplomats noted that prior to the talks, Netanyahu had expressed skepticism about the feasibility of moving forward with the next steps of the agreement.

Following the talks, Axios notes that the White House expressed satisfaction with the current situation. The Trump administration believes it has successfully kept the situation in Gaza within acceptable limits, avoiding escalation.
