Russia has handed over to Ukraine the bodies of one thousand deceased servicemen, according to the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
"According to the Russian side, the bodies belong to Ukrainian servicemen. In the near future, law enforcement investigators, together with expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will carry out all the necessary examinations and identify the repatriated bodies," the agency’s statement said.
The statement did not specify whether Ukraine, in return, handed over the bodies of Russian soldiers.
State Duma deputy Shamsail Saraliyev, a representative of the parliamentary coordination group on issues related to the “special military operation,” told RBC that the Russian side had returned 31 bodies of deceased servicemen during the repatriation process.
According to the pro-government Telegram channel Shot, the exchange took place in the Bryansk region.
