A popular restaurant in Istanbul’s Kadıköy district has been fined for charging a customer a fee to charge their mobile phone, the business newspaper Ekonimim reported.

According to the publication, after a social media post showed a receipt totaling 10,000 Turkish lira (around $240), which included a 45-lira (just over $1) charge for phone charging, Turkey’s Ministry of Trade conducted an inspection of the establishment. The restaurant was fined under the country’s consumer protection law.

The exact amount of the fine was not disclosed, nor was it specified whether the ministry’s decision sets a precedent in Turkey.
