Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov did not rule out that President Vladimir Putin could comment on the situation surrounding a potential meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, TASS reports.

“I hope the president will find an opportunity to comment [on the situation regarding the meeting with Trump and the peace summit in Budapest],” Peskov told Alexander Yunashov, author of the Telegram channel Yunashev Live.

An agreement to hold further talks in the Hungarian capital was reached during a phone call between the Russian and U.S. leaders on October 16.

However, the White House recently stated that preparations for the Putin-Trump meeting in Budapest have been put on hold.
