US President Donald Trump has stated that he would be willing to meet with Kim Jong Un during his current Asian tour if wishes to do so.

“I haven’t mentioned it, I haven’t said anything, but I’d love to meet with him if he’d like to meet,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One on Monday. “I got along great with Kim Jong Un, I liked him, he liked me, if he wants to meet, I’ll be in South Korea.”

Trump emphasized that a meeting with Kim Jong Un is not currently planned, but he would not be opposed to holding one.

The US president expressed willingness to extend his tour in Asian countries if necessary in order to meet with Kim Jong Un.

Earlier, US officials had stated that Trump does not plan to meet Kim Jong Un during his visit to Asia, which includes stops in Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea.

Pyongyang has repeatedly stated that it is open to negotiations with the US if Washington abandons its demand for North Korea’s denuclearization.
