“I welcome Armenia’s decision to begin the process of EU integration,” said Ukrainian MP Volodymyr Ariev on Tuesday during the 12th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Eastern Partnership (Euronest) being held in Armenia’s National Assembly.

Ariev called this an important step not only from the perspective of “membership in the club of democratic countries.”

As a result, Armenia will be able to gain significant, tangible economic and financial benefits in the future, Ariev noted.

Also, he urged support for civil society and independent media in Georgia.

Georgia was very close to joining the EU, and it is important to provide it with support, he added.

In addition, Ariev proposed strengthening oversight over the circumvention of anti-Russian sanctions.
